Class Description

****This class will open for enrollment on 11/18 @ 11:00AM PST**** Wednesdays @ 3:30-5:00, January 8 - February 12 with Adelaide Foden-Vencil This immersive six week kids ceramics class will focus on hand-building, sculpture and a wheel throwing project which will give students a thorough understanding of basic clay techniques. An emphasis will be placed on individual creative expression so students will have the opportunity to make what speaks to them. Students are encouraged to wear clothes that can get dirty! Week 1: Pinch Pots - students will have the opportunity to make a sculpture or pot using the pinch method (example projects: favorite animal, votive, piggy bank) Week 2: Coil Building - students will make a project using the coil method (example projects: vase, planter, pencil holder, mug) Week 3: Slab Building - students will represent their home or a keepsake box using the slab building method (example projects: mobile, self portrait mask, picture frame) Week 4: Challenge Day - students will use their new found ceramics skills to create a more advanced project using all three basic handbuilding methods (coil, pinch, & slab) Week 5: Wheel-throwing - students will learn how to use the pottery wheel to make simple bowls and cups Week 6: Glaze Party! Students will finish up glazing their projects to be fired in the kiln

Policies

Refund Policy: - A refund or credit will be granted (minus $20 processing fee) if a cancellation request is received at least TWO WEEKS prior to the class or camp - For cancellation requests placed 48 hours or less prior to the class or camp, a credit (no refund) MAY be granted ONLY if your spot can be filled - No refunds or credits after attending 1st class or camp meeting - Classes missed due to failure to attend will not be credited Picking Up Artwork: Pieces made in Kid's Classes and Camps take a minimum of two to four weeks to fully complete (bisque and glaze firing). Once they are finished, a staff member will notify each parent via email to come pick up the individually bagged artwork. In-person pick up is required, we do not ship.
